A man and a woman are facing charges after a suspicious pair was spotted by citizens in the north end of the city, police say.

On Tuesday at about 1:15 p.m., London police say that a man was seen exiting a vehicle in the 100-block of Fanshawe Park Road East, while a woman remained in the car. The man hopped a fence into a closed service delivery area with a brick in hand, police said.

Not long after, a delivery truck was found damaged and a brick found beside it, prompting the call to police. The suspect vehicle was found in a parking lot on Fanshawe Park Road, police said.

When officers approached in their cruisers, the driver tried to flee by driving into the cruisers, but was stopped without damage to them, and both occupants were arrested, police said.

Investigators learned the vehicle was reported stolen on Saturday, police said, and a search of the car found a stolen licence plate and passport.

A 35-year-old man, and a 32-year-old woman, both from London, face two joint charges of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, both over and under $5,000. The man also faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, and mischief under $5,000.

The man was expected to appear in London court Wednesday, while the woman’s court date has been set for Oct. 10.
