A heat warning was issued for the London-area and parts Southwestern Ontario on Monday morning and was expected to last until Tuesday evening, according to Environment Canada.
Highs are expected to reach 31 C, officials with the national weather agency said, noting it could prove dangerous.
“Extreme heat can affect everyone’s health,” a statement read.
Health risks are greater for older people, infants, young children, pregnant women, people with mental illness, disabilities or mobility issues, officials said.

Environment Canada recommends drinking lots of water, even when not thirsty, to decrease risk of dehydration. And to never leave people, children or pets in a parked vehicle.
The heat warning is in effect for London, Parkhill and parts of eastern Middlesex County. Things are expected to cool down Tuesday night, officials said.
The work week in London was off to a rainy start and the dreary weather was expected to continue for much of the week, with Wednesday projected as the only day with sunshine.
Following daytime highs above 30 C on Monday and Tuesday, Environment Canada was calling for highs of 28 C, 25 C and 25 C from Wednesday to Friday. At this point, though, the final weekend of summer vacation is expected to be picturesque with sunshine and daytime highs on Saturday and Sunday of 25 C.
Summer started with the tail-end of Hurricane Beryl hammering London in July and helping London to shatter its local rainfall record for the month, which was set in July 1992. August has been drier, with the monthly rainfall record, set in 1964, likely out of reach.
