No charges will be laid against a driver whose vehicle struck a child crossing the street in London’s Old South neighbourhood last week, police say.
Emergency crews responded on Friday around 4:45 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck on Wortley Road near Briscoe Streets, police said.
The child had minor injuries, police said.
A witness said the girl was hit in the crosswalk while walking with a group.

“The involved driver and witnesses were spoken to and no charges were laid as a result of the investigation,” Sgt. Sandasha Bough said Tuesday.
The collision happened on a stretch of Wortley Road, just steps away from the entrance to Wortley Road public school, where speed bumps were recently installed.
Four charged with impaired driving in one-day period: Essex OPP
The Essex County OPP charged four people with impaired driving in separate incidents over a 22-hour period this weekend.
Shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 17, officers were dispatched to County Road 20 to respond to reports of a vehicle driving erratically.
In speaking to the motorist, whose vehicle was located in the Town of Essex, police say officers detected signs of alcohol consumption. A 62-year-old woman was arrested for driving impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
About two hours later, an officer encountered a vehicle speeding down County Road 46 in the Municipality of Lakeshore.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and, in speaking to the driver, noticed signs of alcohol consumption, police said. A breath test confirmed the driver was driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and he was arrested for impaired driving, police said.

Just a couple hours later, a third driver was arrested around 3 a.m. on Aug. 18.
An officer noticed a vehicle driving above the speed limit on County Road 42 in Lakeshore. After conducting a traffic stop, the officer noticed signs of alcohol consumption while speaking to the motorist. Police say that a 31-year-old male was arrested for impaired driving.
Later on Sunday evening, around 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to County Road 22 in the Town of Tecumseh to respond to reports of a possible impaired driver.
The on-duty officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police say the motorist, a 65-year-old woman, was arrested and charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
All four accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor later this month. Each suspect was also handed a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment
