Man wanted in north London shooting arrested

A  Toronto man wanted in a shooting last year at a home in an upscale neighbourhood near University Hospital has been arrested, police said Friday.

Tadas James Bickus, 39, was scheduled to appear Friday in court in London, police said. Bickus was identified by police Wednesday as being wanted on charges of discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, mischief of less than $5,000, possession of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, occupying a vehicle with a firearm and careless storage of a firearm or ammunition.

Police found evidence of gunfire at a home on Corley Drive, west of the intersection of Windermere and Western roads, on Oct. 28, 2023, around 4 a.m. Nobody was injured.

The gunfire on Corley Drive happened one hour after officers found evidence of gunfire at a home on Rhine Avenue, northwest of Oxford Street and Highbury Avenue, in an unrelated case. Nobody was injured.

The investigation in the shooting on Rhine Avenue continues, police said.

There were 27 cases of gunfire last year, one less than the record of 28 in 2021. So far, there have been four cases of gunfire this year, resulting in three people injured, compared to 20 incidents in the same period last year

Pedestrian killed in crash on Highway 402 in Sarnia

One person is dead following a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian Thursday night on Highway 402 in Sarnia, Lambton OPP said.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the highway at the off ramp to Highway 40 at Modeland  police said.

OPP and other emergency services responded at about 10:25 p.m. to the site of the collision.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital where they died, police said. Investigators are trying to identity the deceased and notify their family.
