Two London men face charges after police seized a sawed-off shotgun, 175 rounds of ammunition and suspected fentanyl valued at almost $29,000.

Officers searched a home in the area of Simcoe and Colborne streets on July 24 as part of an ongoing weapons investigation, London police said Tuesday.

Officers found nearly 300 grams of fentanyl worth $28,900, a sawed-off shotgun and 175 rounds of 12 gauge ammunition, a crossbow with arrows, a starter pistol, brass knuckles, two expandable batons, replica firearms and a bag of suspected gun powder.

Two London men aged 41 and 33 are jointly charged with possession of a illegal drug for the purpose of trafficking, police said.

The 33-year-old man also is charged with an additional possession count and a number of weapons offences, including unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and six counts of possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order, police said.

Windsor police make arrest in kidnapping case

A 51-year-old man was arrested by Windsor police and charged with kidnapping and assaulting a man.

According to a statement posted by Windsor police on X, officers responded to a report of an assault on Marentette Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

When officers arrived at the scene, police reported discovering a male victim who was bleeding from the lip.

Officers learned that the injured man was involved in an ongoing dispute with another man. According to police, the suspect had lured the man into a vehicle under the pretence of continuing a discussion to resolve the conflict, but instead drove to a residence ion Lincoln Road.

Rather than working out their differences through conversation, the suspect dragged the man toward the residence, then assaulted and threatened him.

The man escaped when the suspect was briefly distracted, police said.

Police say the man sustained minor physical injuries.

Soon after the first report, officers located the suspect and arrested him without any incident.

A 51-year-old man faces charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault and uttering death threats.
