A robbery suspect who stabbed a bystander was carrying two knives and a cannister of coyote spray when he was arrested Wednesday, London police said.
Police had been searching for the suspect since the robbery and stabbing in the area of Richmond and Oxford streets at about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.
A man left a business that was not identified by police with items he had not paid for. A bystander confronted the man and was stabbed in the altercation, suffering serious injuries, police said.

The man left the area on foot and was last seen walking on Sydenham Street.
Police released an image of the suspect obtained from a surveillance camera and asked for the public’s help in identifying him.
Police received a tip on Wednesday the suspect may have been spotted on Ridout Street near Dufferin Avenue. Several officers went to the area and located the suspect at about 2:30 p.m., police said.
When officers told the suspect he was under arrest, he tried to run away and police used a stun gun.
The suspect was searched and officers found two folding knives, a canister of coyote spray and a canister of “choking and stinging” gas, police said.
A 30 year-old Toronto man faces 13 charges, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, four counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon.
The man is expected to appear in court Thursday, police said.
The bystander who was stabbed and the suspect did not know each other, police said. The bystander is a 60-year-old man who remains in hospital in good condition, police said.
