A group of London dancers are making the trip of a lifetime this month.

Along with more than 60 other performers, they will take the stage at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and Disneyland Paris.

What’s the one item an Olympic dancer must bring in their suitcase to give their best performance?

Ella Hartman, 15, part of the dance troupe Dance Extreme, says it’s their customized jacket with Canada in red on the back to show they’re representing their home country.

“I’m feeling super excited,” Hartman said. “This is an opportunity of a lifetime, so I’m a little nervous.”

Dance Extreme was selected to perform in the Paris Olympics after officials saw the group performing in a U.S. competition.

Besides the jacket, dancers will be packing multiple costumes for the performances, make-up – a lot of it – hair accessories and a pair of caramel jazz shoes that will dance across six stages during the Games that open Friday and come to a close on Aug. 11.

The dance group’s schedule includes performing at the historic Versailles palace during the Olympic equestrian competitions. They also are scheduled to perform at Disneyland Paris and other Olympic venue

Kiera Hunter, 19, and Emma Blesity, 17, graduated from the youth dance group and returned as teachers.

“Something so special about this trip is the community coming together to support us for all of our fundraisers and the events that we’ve done. They’re just so supportive, and we’ve had so many sponsors that have helped us out so much,” said Hunter, who studies health sciences at Western University.
