One dead, one critically hurt in Oxford crash: OPP

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after two vehicles collided Thursday morning near Tavistock, provincial police say.

The collision occurred about 7:30 a.m. at 16th Line and Cassel Side Road in East Zorra-Tavistock township, Oxford OPP said.

One person died at the scene about five kilometres southeast of Tavistock and a second person suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, police said.

“I’d like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the people involved,” Oxford OPP Const. Randi Crawford said in a video posted to X.

A third person involved in the crash was also taken to hospital as a precaution, she said.

Sections of the 16th Line and Cassel Road will be closed for “a long period” while police investigate, Crawford said.

Oxford OPP ask drivers to avoid the area.

Two charged after business robbed, employee assaulted

A London man and woman are charged in a robbery at a business in which an employee was assaulted, London police said.

A man and woman entered a business on Southdale Road, east of White Oak Road, stole property and assaulted an employee at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, police said Wednesday. The man and woman left the business on foot.

Police arrested two suspects nearby and recovered stolen property, police said. No injuries were reported.

A 27-year old London man and a 27-year old London woman are jointly charged with committing a robbery with violence or threats, police said.

Both were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
