A London homeowner who approached an unknown man sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle in his driveway was threatened with a firearm before the driver tried to hit him with the vehicle, London police say.
The homeowner noticed the man sleeping in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle parked in his driveway in the area of Emery Street West and Highwood Avenue in Manor Park at about 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

The man woke up as the homeowner approached the vehicle and started to yell at him, police said.
The man threatened the homeowner with a firearm and then tried to hit him with his vehicle. The vehicle struck a car parked in the driveway, damaging it and the home, police said.
The man drove off. Several officers, including members of the emergency response unit, responded. The vehicle and suspect were located a short distance from the home in the neighbourhood northwest of Commissioners and Wharncliffe roads and the suspect was arrested. Officers seized a black BB sytle handgun, police said.
A 32-year-old London man faces six charges, including assault with a weapon, uttering threats of death or bodily harm and impaired driving.
The accused was scheduled to appear in London court on Wednesday.
Man faces fraud charge in benefits probe
A man is charged with fraud after a nearly three-month investigation, Chatham-Kent police say.
Police began the investigation following a complaint on April 9 from a benefits provider. Investigators learned an individual had submitted fraudulent benefit claims totalling more than $8,000, police said.
A man was arrested Tuesday and charged with fraud over $5,000, police said.
