A suspicious fire, a weapons investigation and a hit and run are all connected and resulted in charges against two men and a woman from London, police say.

It was just before 5:30 a.m. on June 18 when police say officers were called to a vehicle on fire in the area of Royce Court and Bessemer Road, northeast of the Wellington Road-Exeter Road intersection. London firefighters put out the fire, but it was considered suspicious and assigned to police.

Police saw video surveillance from the area and identified the suspects.

The next day at about 7:30 a.m. a man called police saying he was threatened by a man with a gun in the area of Hamilton Road and Inkerman Street, a residential area just east of Adelaide Street. Then, police said they were called to a hit and run at Adelaide and Nelson streets.

The vehicle that fled the scene matched the description of the vehicle in the weapons investigation, police said. The vehicle was found in a parking lot at Commissioners Road East and Adelaide Street South. The vehicle had been stolen that morning, police said.

Two men were arrested a short distance away. A woman was arrested inside of a business in the area. A search of the woman found a BB-style handgun, police said.

Charges in the investigation include arson causing damage to property, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failing to comply with a release order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm or ammunition and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The three charged persons are set to appear in court later this week and in early July, police said.
