A man who was suffering from hypothermia and floating three miles from Lake Huron’s shore was rescued by Coast Guard members, Ontario Provincial Police say.
The man, who was operating a vessel, was found off Goderich habour, police said. He was wearing a life jacket “which saved his life,” Huron OPP officials said in a statement.
Damage hits $1M in house fire
Two people were hurt and damage is pegged at $1 million after a house fire on Carriage Road just outside London on Friday.

Middlesex firefighters were called to the brick house at about 8 a.m. People escaped the blaze with minor injuries, according to Scott Roper, the deputy chief for Middlesex Fire Services.
“It was a very large fire and . . . there were no hydrants (in the area), so we had to shuttle water back and forth,” Roper said. “I think there’s more than $1 million in damages.”
The fire was “fully involved” when they arrived and it was still under investigation, he said. Fire crews from Arva and Oneida Nation of the Thames were also called in.
Carriage Road from Sharon Drive to Westminster Drive was shut down for a period of time The fire was under control by about 10 a.m. Friday.
Impaired driving charge after police cruiser struck
A female motorist faces an impaired driving charge after a collision with a police cruiser early Saturday.
Shortly after 1 a.m., officers were responding to a separate incident when another vehicle approached and collided with their cruiser parked at the 1400-block of Parent Avenue in Windsor.
Police say the vehicle then struck a second parked are before coming to a stop. A 31-year-old woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she failed a breath test
She faces charges of impaired driving.
