Jackie Schleifer Taylor, who has been on leave since late 2023, is no longer the chief executive at London Health Sciences Centre.
In a memo sent to staff, a copy of which was obtained by The London Free Press, the hospital’s board chairperson, Matthew Wison, wrote of her abrupt departure, effective Monday.
“I am writing to let you know that the board of directors and Dr. Jackie Schleifer Taylor have mutually agreed that (her) employment as president and CEO of London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has ended,” read the message.

Acting chief executive David Musyj, chief executive of Windsor Regional Hospital, will continue to lead the 15,000-employee hospital. He took over the role last month at the board’s request.
A physiotherapist by education, Schleifer Taylor took the hospital’s helm in January 2021, becoming LHSC’s acting leader in the wake of a pandemic travel scandal that resulted in the abrupt termination of her predecessor, Paul Woods, who was president for four years.
Musyj was brought in after Schleifer Taylor went on leave, with the hospital facing a spiralling deficit, swelling senior executive ranks and a travel scandal in which it spent nearly $500,000 on trips for executives.
LHSC is facing a $76-million budget shortfall, and has 22 senior executives including three presidents. It paid $1.5 million to five departed executives in 2021, and has signalled its intent to scrap a formal collaboration agreement with St. Joseph’s Health Care London. The move involves the wind-down of the hospitals’ joint ventures.
LHSC has been under investigation by Ontario’s Ministry of Health since November 2023, after the travel scandal erupted.
