Eight bus shelters damaged since January

London police are investigating after more than half a dozen bus shelters throughout the city have been damaged since the start of the year.

According to police, investigators were contacted last Friday, May 5, regarding eight city transit shelters that have been damaged between January 7 and May 3. Offiers say the panes of glass on the shelters were reportedly smashed. A number of the shelters targeted are in the city’s southeast end.

“Investigators have not identified any suspects at this time and are appealing to members of the public for tips in relation to the damage,” read a statement from London police.

This is not the first time vandals have targeted bus shelters in the city. In September 2020, London police launched an investigation after 25 bus shelters had the glass smashed out in the span of a week, resulting in around $30,000 in damage. In 2015, another spree of damaged shelters resulted in an investgation that saw 34 shelters destroyed.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
