‘A blessing day:’ Local Muslims mark Ramadan’s end with Eid al-Fitr celebration

London’s Muslim community gathered Friday to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic holiday marking the end of Ramadan and its month of daytime fasting. About 7,000 people took part in two prayer sessions at RBC Place convention centre. “This is a blessing day. After your first 30 days, you have to enjoy, celebrate, and be happy with your brother and sisters,” said Hashem Ramadan, treasurer of the London Muslim Mosque.
