Local hospital admissions spike in wake of virus “triple threat”

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance is not immune to the spike in hospital admissions, especially among very young children.

In a social media post Thursday, the Alliance said that it has admitted 27 patients with influenza since November 1, of whom 13 are under the age of six. There have been 22 patients admitted to  hospital with RSV since the beginning of November. Of those, 16  are under six. COVID-19 is also still causing people to end up in hospital with 21 patients admitted, including one under six.

The Alliance says it is opening a number of COVID-19, Cold, and Flu Care Clinics to ease the burden on hospital emergency departments.

You can help too by wearing a mask in indoor public spaces, getting your flu and COVID-19 shots, and stay home if you are sick.
