Renowned London doctor Peter Fowler, a trail-blazing surgeon who founded a small athletic injuries clinic at Western University that developed into one of the leading sports medicine centres in North America, died Wednesday. “We are all feeling the loss in the soul of the clinic today,” said Dr. Robert Litchfield, medical director of the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic that was founded in 1974. In his decades as medical director of the clinic, Fowler pioneered the use of an arthroscope in performing knee surgeries on amateur and elite athletes, including NHL star Steve Yzerman.
