The St. Thomas Aquinas Flames and Catholic Central Crusaders kicked off the London District Catholic seniors boys football season with a “United in Spirit” game Thursday at Catholic Central. CCH students bought tickets to attend the football game and a senior girls basketball game, also against STA, and the school will use proceeds to make a donation to the United Way Elgin Middlesex. The Flames showed some spirit of their own, staking out an early lead over the perennial football powerhouse and then holding off the Crusaders on their way to a 20-14 win.
