On June 8, 2021, I stood on the steps of the London Muslim Mosque, with people to my left and right as far as my eyes could see. The vigil for four members of the Afzaal family killed in what police allege was a hate-motivated attack was a heartwarming moment of solidarity, during a dark moment, that I will never forget.
