Ontario election 2022: Leaders pitch housing, highway and long-term care promises Tuesday

The Green Party of Ontario is calling for an emergency grant to help small businesses in Ottawa and eastern Ontario struggling in the aftermath of Saturday’s deadly storm. With Hydro Ottawa reporting about 74,000 customers without power and Hydro One had more than 148,000 customers with ongoing outages as of Tuesday morning, Green leader Mike Schreiner is pushing for immediate action to help affected businesses.  “Goods are going bad in fridges and freezers, hitting small business owners hard in their wallets,” Schreiner said in a statement. “Many small businesses were already hanging on by a thread after 2 years of lockdowns.
