Police investigate bomb threat at northwest London school

A bomb threat at a northwest London school caused some panic Wednesday morning.

London police were notified about the threat outside of the school on Hawthorne Road just before 8 a.m. Officers conducted a preliminary check of the building and found nothing suspicious.

A more thorough search was underway as of 9 a.m.

Police have not identified the school by name, but officer and several marked cruisers were seen outside of St Marguerite D’Youville Catholic Elementary School. Emily Carr Public School is also located on Hawthorne Road.

“The investigation, including examination into the source of the threat, is in its early stages, and more information will be provided when available,” police said in a statement.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area for the time being.
