Police believe there could be more victims after a former London-area youth camp employee was charged with sexual assaults alleged to have occurred over two decades ago.
Ottawa police’s sexual assault and child abuse unit announced the charges against 48-year-old Philip Doucette of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Tuesday.
According to police, a girl met a male employee while at Youth Leadership Camp near London in 1997. He visited her in Ottawa a year later at which time the sexual assaults began. The alleged assaults continued in the subsequent years the girl attended the camp until 2001.
The camp moved to Orillia during this time, police said.
Doucette has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count each of sexual exploitation and sexual interference with a person under age 16. He was to appear in Ottawa court on Tuesday.
Investigators said Doucette worked at the camp from approximately 1996-2005, which leads them to believe there could be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 613-236-1222, extension 5944or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
