Obituary – Marie McNulty

MARIE McNULTY

Alice “Marie” McNulty (née Bruce) of Kincardine passed away, surrounded by her five children and her husband of 69 years, at the Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at age 89.
Born on Feb. 27, 1934 in Renfrew, Ontario, she was the oldest daughter of five children of William and Alice (née Friske) Bruce.
From her one room schoolhouse in Dacre, Ontario to her graduation in Eganville, Marie worked in the restaurant business and RCA Victor television factory in Renfrew. She married Lloyd McNulty, on Tuesday, July 14, 1953, and they went on to have five children: Evelyn Mackey (Karl Miller), Jerry McNulty (Betty Ann), Helen Furnivall (Martyn), Allan McNulty (Erin) and James McNulty (Karen). She was a beloved Nana to 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Marie was always there supporting her husband as they were transferred throughout the province working on dam and nuclear projects. At each location, they built multiple homes. Together they built 11 homes from start to finish. Her work ethic was second to none.
She has been a pillar of strength, love and unity for her family. She always said her greatest accomplishment was the family she and Lloyd created. It was a circle that was strong. She spent her time playing cards and hosting Sunday night dinners, but most of all was her love for music. She always had music playing around the house or she was singing. She was most proud of her boys who played her favorite music – bluegrass – on stages throughout the country. Never one to miss out on late night jam sessions, she would always be out listening or conversing with friends.
Marie was a member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, where her life will be celebrated with a private family mass.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
The family are so thankful for the Huron Shores Hospice, and its doctors, nurses and the caring volunteers. Memorial donations to Huron Shores Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
