Seaforth hospital closing emergency department overnight

The Seaforth Community Hospital is closing its emergency department due to sudden staffing shortages.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says the temporary closure will go into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday.  The ER will reopen Wednesday at 7 a.m. and return to 24-hour service at that point.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will re-route to the nearest available emergency department.

The closest 24-hour hospitals to Seaforth are in Exeter, Goderich and Stratford.
