London police are searching for a local woman believed to have crashed into a police cruiser and fled the scene.
On Thursday morning around 3:25 a.m., police received reports of a possible impaired driver near Central Avenue and Richmond Street. Just a few minutes later, officers located the vehicle travelling northbound on Talbot Street, coming from Central Avenue. Police said the driver was headed in their direction.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver reportedly reversed into a marked cruiser causing minor damage. Police allege that the woman drove away from the scene at a high rate of speed.
Rather than initiating a pursuit, police said a physical description was provided to other officers in the area.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle was found abandoned near Adelaide Street South and Commissioners Road East, according to police.
Through investigation, members of the London Police Service (LPS) were able to identify the driver. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.
Police are now searching for 56-year-old Anne Marie Hunt of London. She has been charged by way of warrant for dangerous operation, failing to stop for police, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
Anyone with information about this incident or on Hunt’s whereabouts is asked to contact LPS at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
