Acclaimed artist Alan Doyle is coming to Guelph at the end of the month to play songs, share stories and raise money for youth music programming at the Grove hubs across Wellington County.
The fundraiser is organized by the Oak Tree Project and will kick off their eighth edition of community fundraising.
“We are partnering with The Awesome Music Project (AMP), a charity that explores the transformative power of music through the sharing of stories, songs, and science. Our goal is to raise $30,000 so AMP can bring a full year of its Awesome Music Hour programming to every Grove location in Wellington and Guelph,” said Oak Tree co-founder Will Mactaggart.
On April 30, Doyle will join local artists Mikalyn, James Gordon and Valentina Sarmiento from the Grove, sharing their stories about the power of music and mental health. Doyle will also perform a new song that was co-written by CxViolet and The New People, with contributions from youth at The Grove.
“Getting somebody like Alan Doyle involved gets people excited. It’s going to be a great night with great food, great music and great storytelling,” says Mactaggart.
The event at Cutten Fields will also include an auction of exclusive, music-related items.
Tickets can be found online here. Event expenses are being covered by The Oak Tree Project so that 100 per cent of all ticket sales and donations will support the Awesome Music Project.
