Perth County OPP are again warning the public to not send explicit or intimate images to others online.
On March 21 just after 3 p.m., police were contacted and began investigating an alleged “sextortion” incident in West Perth.
Officers determined a male sent a female explicit images over an app on their cellphones. Once the female had the images, she began demanding money from the male party so the photos wouldn’t be distributed to friends and family. No money was lost but the photos were sent to friends and family of the male victim.
Police are once again warning everyone to be extremely cautious on social media apps and the internet in general, particularly when it comes to intimate images. Do not share intimate images online, especially with people you just met or made contact with.
