Construction equipment is breaking ground at the intersection of Harbour and Queen Street in downtown Kincardine.
The town reminds people that downtown businesses are still open. They have created alternate rear entries and put up signs to help direct vehicle and foot traffic to local businesses.
Sidewalks are open and there’s a new Downtown Dig Passport offered by the Lakeside Downtown Kincardine BIA with chances to win BIA Bucks.
Some traffic calming changes include two new four-way stops, at Broadway Street and Huron Terrace, as well as Harbour Street and Huron Terrace. Plus, there will be east-west traffic on Harbour Street, temporarily replacing the one-way road. Vehicles will exit via the north parking lot onto Lambton Street. As well, motorists can park on Queen Street from Lambton Street to Harbour Street in a south facing direction.
“We know this project is going to make things hard,” said Mayor Kenneth Craig. “That’s why municipal staff, the BIA, and Chamber are working hard to make sure that everyone knows we’re open for business. We’re a great community, and I know we’ll support one another through the Downtown Dig.”
