A fire erupted at a long-term care home in Milverton on Monday, prompting Perth East fire crews to respond.
According to the Perth East Fire Department, they received the call on March 27 at approximately 9:45 p.m. for a blaze at the Knollcrest Lodge located on William Street.
The fire originated in one of the data rooms, which houses the cabling for TV and internet access.
No residents were injured, and the south wing of the building was evacuated and residents were moved to the north wing.
Fire Chief Bill Hunter said that the sprinkler system confined the flames to the data room, and firefighters worked to eliminate smoke from the building.
Approximately $50,000 in damage to computer equipment has been reported.
