Perth County Connects with Southwest Community Transportation Association

The Transit Project Coordinator for Perth County Connect Transit says they were one of several transit organizations that received a Community Transportation Grant from the MTO to get started.

Maggie Kerr says they launched P C Connect in 2018.

“We actually all partnered together and created the Southwest Community Transportation Association and this Association has really worked together and eventually connect all of our transportation services so that we can really connect the southwest and provide reliable transportation from one end to the other,” she said.

“So we actually provide stops in St. Marys and Stratford. So you can get on the GO Train from there. We ‘re also working closely with GO and Via to really advocate for more frequencies so that it can even be more convenient to get from our rural communities to some of the bigger urban centres,” Kerr added.

Kerr says more transportation systems are being created throughout the Province and as the networks are formed it provided people with a great opportunity to travel from one community to another or for people who have moved from an urban centre to the country to conveniently go back and visit the city when they want to.
