Nearly three weeks after a tense 12-hour standoff at a Woodstock home, charges have been laid against a 29-year-old man.
The stand-off began after Woodstock police went to the home on William Street near Ingersoll Avenue in response to a call about a person with a weapon late on January 28. Local officers with the help of the Stratford police containment team and canine units surrounded the home on the residential street and remained on scene overnight.
The men surrendered without incident on January 29.
A search of the William Street home that followed saw police seize approximately $26,000 worth of fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for a 29-year-old Woodstock man earlier this week.
He has since been charged with seven counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and one count of failure to comply with a release order. The man remains in custody.
