If you recently bought a 250g package of PC brand Canadian Cheddar Cheese, don’t eat it.
Health Canada has issued a recall of the product because it could be contaminated with listeria.
The cheese may look and smell okay, but listeria can cause severe illness and even death.
“Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness,” read a notice on Health Canada’s website. “Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.”
Anyone suffering symptoms should immediately call their healthcare provider.
It advises anyone who bought the product to throw it out immediately or take it back to the store for a refund.
The best-before date on the package is August 2024.
The notice did not say if there were any reported illnesses.
