Changes being made at ServiceOntario will make it both “faster” and “easier” for people across the province to get driver’s licences, health cards, and other services, according to Ontario’s premier.
Premier Doug Ford, along with Minister for Public and Business Service Delivery Kaleed Rasheed announced enhancements to the appointment booking system on Wednesday. The changes will allow customers at 64 of the busiest locations to book multiple services in a single appointment or book one appointment for an entire family. Ontarians will also now be able to identify accessibility needs ahead of an appointment.
“We’re making it easier for people and businesses to connect with ServiceOntario, putting customers first and saving people time and money,” said Ford, who was in Brampton for the announcement. “Across our government, we’re making it less complicated and more convenient for people to interact with government.”
Updated virtual services will include allowing people who can’t make it to a location in person to book live video calls for health care renewals. Customers opting to call-in will spend less time on the phone going forward. The province said it is rolling out new technology that offers quicker interactive responses and call-back options.
In the coming months, Ontarians will be able to apply for a marriage licence through a new secure online portal in participating municipalities, eliminating the need to physically go to city hall. Digital dealership registration will be expanded to include trade-in vehicles and used cars by the spring.
Ontarians looking to book appointments can do so virtually at Ontario.ca/Appointment or by calling ServiceOntario at 1-800-387-3445 (TTY 1-800-268-7095).
