Charges have been laid against a London man a day after a downtown fire that caused $160,000 damage.
The fire, believed to have started inside a large recycling bin outside of a Picton Street apartment building, broke out around 3 a.m. Tuesday. The flames spread to nearby vehicles and a shed. As a precaution, the building was temporarily evacuated until firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
A 41-year-old man was arrested shortly after the fire was set.
On Wednesday, London police announced the man has been charged with arson causing damage to property and arson with disregard for human life.
The man is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the pair of charges on Friday.
