Woodstock police are pleased that most local drivers checked during last month’s R.I.D.E. program were sober and following the rules of the road.
Throughout December 2022, officers with the Woodstock Police Service reportedly stopped 3,330 vehicles at 26 Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checkpoints in the city.
As a result, police say only one novice driver was arrested, as it was determined the G2 licence holder had a blood alcohol concentration level above zero. Officers also issued several warnings to a handful of drivers under the Highway Traffic Act.
“This initiative helps to not only ensure the safety of our roads, but serves as a reminder to those in our community to not get in the driver’s seat after consuming alcohol while celebrating the holiday season or attending holiday events,” read a statement from Community Service Officer Shaylyn Jackson.
