Drayton Entertainment has announced its 2023 season for the Drayton Festival Theatre and the Huron Country Playhouse.
Artistic Director Alex Mustakas says there’s no specific theme for either venue. He says they’ve put together a collection of shows that will appeal to people of all ages with a goal of making sure everyone has a good time.
“It’s like a coming home as it were. We ended our 2022 season very strong and it really indicates that people want to be back in the theatre. So we’re giving people what they really would like to see,” Mustakas explained.
He adds the only people happier than the audiences about the return to live theatre are the performers who feed off of a live audience.
Mustakas says the Huron Country Playhouse is a slightly different audience because of its location, but the goal is similar.
“Other than a joyous gathering and providing great entertainment for the Playhouse, especially on the shores of Grand Bend. We know people want to come out and have fun and that’s what we’re going to present,” said Mustakas.
Also, there is a significant economic benefit to the communities that are home to one of the seven Drayton Entertainment venues. Mustakas explains they’ve found that a lot of their subscribers travel from one location to another to see the different plays. So, he says they may see a couple of shows in Drayton and then travel to Grand Bend or Cambridge and then up to Penetanguishene, and they usually spend money when they travel to those locations.
A schedule for the 2023 season for each venue can be found on the Drayton Entertainment website.
