Provincial police say they have taken an individual into custody following an investigation southeast of Shedden early Monday morning.
Police warned residents about an increased police presence in the area of Fingal Line between Oneida Road and Union Road in a tweet issued just after 7:30 a.m.
Officers were called to “disturbance” at around 8 p.m. Sunday on Fingal Line in Southwold Township, Elgin OPP said. The area was closed all Monday morning and into the afternoon as a result.
Just after 2:30 p.m., police took person had been arrested without incident. No other details about the suspect or the investigation has been released.
“There never was a threat to public safety, and more details pertaining to the investigation will be released once they become available,” a statement from Elgin OPP read.
Officers have since reopened the area and are thanking the public for their cooperation.
