The historic Strathcona Cup is returning to Port Elgin.
Contested every five years, the Strathcona Cup is the oldest curling competition in the world, and is a battle between Canada and Scotland. The Port Elgin Curling Club will welcome four Scottish teams and four Port Elgin area teams in mid-January. Twenty Scottish curlers are coming this year, and the opening ceremonies will include bagpipes and what’s known as a “wee dram.”
The first ever Strathcona Cup was held in 1903. This edition of the event will get under way at 9:30 a.m. at the Port Elgin Curling Club on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
