Team Canada’s first time at the FIFA World Cup in over three decades has ended in elimination.
On Sunday afternoon, Canada was eliminated from knockout-stage contention after falling 4-1 to Croatia.
The Canadians started off strong, with 22-year-old Alphonso Davies making history, scoring Canada’s first-ever men’s World Cup goal just 68 seconds into the match.
However, Croatia quickly rallied from the deficit, scoring twice to lead 2-1 at the break.
Andrej Kramarić scored his second goal of the game in the 70th minute, giving Croatia a 3-1 lead. Mislav Oršić wrapped things up for Croatia, scoring the fourth and final goal for the team.
