Oxford OPP are asking drivers who were in the area at the time of a two-vehicle crash that killed two international students from King’s University College to check their dash-cam footage.
Emergency crews were called to the collision between a pickup truck and minivan in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 west of Trussler Road just before 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Three of the six passengers in the minivan were taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. Two of them were later pronounced dead, police said.
Two other van passengers and the driver of the pickup truck suffered serious injuries. The driver of the van was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
On Thursday, police issued an appeal to anyone who was travelling through the area at the time of the collision “to review their dash cameras to determine if any details were captured. Anyone with information that may be helpful is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122.
King’s identified the two students killed as first year social sciences students from China. They were on a private trip as part of their reading week when the collision happened. The post secondary institution has said it has been in contact with the students’ families and is offering them support. King’s is also offering online counselling services to students, staff, and faculty.
