Central Huron high school runs successful food drive

A food drive conducted by students at Central Huron Secondary School last Friday was a huge success.

Vice Principal, Lucy Langis said people at the food bank said they were amazed at the amount of food that was collected.

“Murphy’s Bus Lines donated buses and our students went door to door and collected food. On top of that, we had a home room competition to see which home room could collect the most food and there’ll be a prize for the home room that collected the most food,” said Langis.

Langis added, this has been a difficult time for a lot of families.

“There are so many families struggling. We see it at school. We have many students who come to school hungry, so it felt really great to work with the community to collect food and even Elliott’s Liquidation donated extra goods, as well as Foodland,” she added.

Langis says all of the food collected will go to the Food Bank and they’re grateful for the support from the community and the positive experience that provided for the students.
