Five charged after drive-by airsoft shooting

Five people are facing charges after a drive-by shooting involving an airsoft rifle.

Middlesex OPP say officers were called to the area of Birchcrest Drive in Kilworth a little after 10 p.m. Sunday. A person reported being shot at by someone in a passing vehicle.

“The suspect vehicle was located at a business plaza on Oxford Street West in the City of London, where officers performed a high-risk takedown,” the OPP said in a news release issued Tuesday.

It was later determined that London police were investigating a similar inicdent in the area.

According to police, the weapon was an airsoft rifle.

An 18-year-old London man is charged with two counts of discharging an air gun or pistol with intent, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a Schedule 2 substance.

Two other 18-year-olds and two 19-year-olds face the same weapons charges.
