Open house to be held for major Kincardine road construction project

Residents in Kincardine can learn more about plans for the Downtown Kincardine Queen Street Reconstruction Project set to begin in the spring of 2023.

A come and go Open House will run Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kincardine Centre for the Arts at 708 Queen Street in Kincardine.

It will feature preliminary designs with staff from project engineer B.M. Ross and other organizations available to answer questions and listen to suggestions.

Community Economic Development Coordinator Cherie Leslie said residents, businesses, and property owners can offer insight to help ensure the construction project is a positive and successful experience resulting in an improved downtown.

“This is a big project,” said Leslie. “We’re working with Lakeside Downtown Kincardine BIA, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce, and other groups.”

“Construction will be along Queen Street from Durham Market Square South to Durham Street. It will disrupt the side streets as connections are made to existing services and sidewalks,” added Leslie. “We’re building plans to make sure we have lots of communication and provide supports to businesses and downtown residents. The Open House is a great opportunity for businesses and residents to learn more about the project and to tell us what their priorities are.”
