Impaired charges laid after vehicle hits business, driver asks cop for pic

Two people, one from London and the other from Bayham, are facing impaired driving charges following two separate incidents that left police flabbergasted.

In one, a vehicle crashed into a business in Simcoe just after 4:20 a.m. on Sunday. The black SUV was on Norfolk Street South when it left the roadway and smashed into the front windows of the unnamed business.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A 26-year-old London woman has been charged with impaired driving offences.

Late Friday night, an Elgin OPP officer was on Heritage Line when they were approached by a man who asked to have his picture taken with a police cruiser.

The officer determined the individual was impaired and arrested them without incident.

An 18-year-old man from Bayham has been charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs and impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

Both of the accused have been released from police custody with future court dates.
