HPHA declares recent COVID-19 outbreak over at local hospital

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance says a recent COVID-19 outbreak at the St. Marys Memorial Hospital is now over.

In a release on September 16, the HPHA officially ended the outbreak status in the hospital, after it had been declared on the Inpatient Unit on September 2.

The release states “the Inpatient Unit has been reopened for admissions and transfers. Family and Caregiver Presence on the Unit has also been restored. Full guidelines can be found at www.hpha.ca. For the health and safety of patients and team members, a reminder that all individuals are required to wear a mask upon entering any of the HPHA hospitals sites and that active COVID-19 screening must be completed.”

“Upon declaring the outbreak, immediate precautions were implemented, including prevalence testing in team members and patients,” says Andrew Williams, President & CEO. “While this outbreak is over, we can’t stress enough the importance of getting your COVID-19 vaccine and continuing to follow public health measures,” adds Williams.
