Police have laid charges against a group of Londoners after searches at three homes turned up thousands of dollars worth of stolen property and merchandise.
Last week, members of the West Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), announced they had launched an investigation after a number of automotive shops, dealers and other businesses in Elgin, Middlesex, and Perth counties reported break-ins and thefts at their businesses.
Police said that there seemed to be a pattern with each reported break and enter and issued a warning to business owners to be on the look out for suspicious activity.
On Thursday, OPP announced that as a result of warrants used at three homes in London between August 25-31, charges have been laid against four people.
“Police recovered stolen property, including vehicle keys, tools, alcohol, clothing, and lottery tickets,” a statement from the OPP read.
A total of 19 charges were laid against four men ages 27, 28, and 63. Some of the charges include breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a schedule 1 substance.
The OPP is thanking members of the London Police Service for their help in the investigation.
