Middlesex OPP searching for driver who fled after rollover crash on 401

Provincial police are investigating after a driver took off from the scene of a crash on Highway 401 near Dorchester Thursday morning.

At around 11:15 a.m., Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, plus emergency crews in London-Middlesex and Thames Centre, responded to a two-vehicle crash on the eastbound side of the 401 near Dorchester Road.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a passenger vehicle hit the back of a commercial truck. The passenger vehicle veered off the highway and rolled into a ditch.

The truck driver was checked out in hospital as a precaution, but no serious injuries have been reported.

The OPP K9 Unit was later called to the scene after the driver and lone occupant of the passenger vehicle went missing. The individual has still not been located.

Traffic in the area was slowed as one of the lanes was partially blocked, the OPP said. The area has since been cleared.

Anyone with information should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
