Strathroy homeowner assaulted trying to stop vehicle theft

Strathroy Caradoc police are trying to track down two people who allegedly assaulted a homeowner after hitting two parked vehicles with a stolen truck.

Police say the incident started with a man and woman stealing the truck and trailer from an address on Queen Street around 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday. As the pair made their getaway, they crashed into a parked vehicle on English Street and then hit another vehicle on Maitland Terrace.

Shortly after, a homeowner confronted the two as they tried to steal a second vehicle. That individual was then assaulted with a weapon, suffering minor injuries.

Police did not specify what type of weapon was used in the attack.

The two suspects were last seen driving away in a light grey coloured older model Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The male suspect is described as Indigenous, between 20 to 30-years-old, approximately 5’8”, with a heavy build, black medium length hair and a close cut unkempt beard. He was wearing a black shirt with white writing.

The woman is described as Indigenous, between 20 to 30-years-old, approximately 5’6”, with heavy build, and long black hair in a ponytail. She was wearing a red shirt with a pink/red pattern on the front.

Police are asking anyone who lives in the area, who has video surveillance outside of their home, to check their footage from between 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. and contact officers if they see anything relating to this incident.
