Delivery driver was actually home invader: OPP

Provincial police in Elgin County are looking for two suspects after a home invasion that saw one of the invaders pose as a delivery driver.

OPP say they responded to a report of an assault on Fingal Line in Southwold Township around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7.

“It has been determined that an unknown individual arrived at the residence posing as a delivery person and then forcibly entered the residence after the door was opened by the homeowner,” police said. “A physical altercation then ensured when a second unknown person entered the home and began to assault the owner.”

The victim was later taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, the two invaders left the scene in a black, long style sedan.

Police are now looking for a white male, likely in his early 20s. He was about 6′ 1″ and weighed roughly 170 lbs. He was wearing an orange construction shirt, dark coloured sweatpants, and a black hoodie.

The second suspect is described as an Asian man, also in his early 20s, about 5′ 8″, and 140 lbs. He was wearing a light coloured hoodie, jogging pants, and a backpack.

“The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone in the area with security surveillance systems to check their footage to see if they captured the suspects of vehicle involved,” police said.
