Suspect arrested in murder of Lynda Marques

London police say they have made an arrest in the murder of a London nurse who was gunned down in her driveway.

Police announced Wednesday that an 18-year-old man from Toronto has been arrested and chargee with first degree murder in the death the Lynda Marques.

The 30-year-old nurse had just pulled into the driveway of her home on Wateroak Drive around 7:50 p.m. on September 10 when two individuals fatally shot her. The pair took off from the area in a black Volkswagen Jetta. Police believe the shooters had come to London from the Greater Toronto Area and left the city immediately following the shooting.

The getaway vehicle was found abandoned five days later on Meadowlily Road South near Commissioners Road East.

London police determined the vehicle had been stolen from Bluffers Park and Beach in Scarborough five days before the shooting. The vehicle has since undergone extensive forensic examination and analysis of evidence gathered is ongoing, police said.

Police will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday to provide more information about the arrest.
