One person facing charges following assault of police officer

A North Perth resident is facing charges following an alleged assault of an OPP officer.

On March 20th just before 8 a.m., a Perth County OPP vehicle was called to a residence on Road 176 in North Perth. The officers were talking with a person at the scene, when one of the officers was assaulted. The accused also caused damaged in the police vehicle after they were arrested. The officer who was assaulted was not injured. As a result, a 20-year-old from North Perth is charged with Assault a Peace Officer and Mischief Over $5,000.

The accused has been released from custody and has a court date scheduled at a later date in Stratford to answer to the charges.
